Congrats Dr. Borooah

Congratulations to Dr. Shyamanga Borooah, for his Knights Templar award for his project entitled ‘Defining the role of LAMP2 in retinopathy associated with Danon disease’.  Danon disease is life and sight-threatening systemic disease results from mutations in the gene LAMP2. This study will use a stem cell model of Danon disease to identify where LAMP2 is expressed in the eye.  Then Dr. Borooah will use gene therapy to test a translational treatment approach to treat vision problems found in Danon disease. The work is in close collaboration with Dr. Eric Adler, Professor of Cardiology, who has spent most of his career working with patients with Danon disease.
